Our Horses

Our cross-shire horseThe pride and joy of our business are our much loved cross-shire horses Hannah, Bonnie and Freddie. Hannah and Bonnie are a mother and daughter team. Hannah joined the business in the 1987 season. Unknown to anyone until she started to grow rather large on one side was the fact that Hannah was pregnant and during that summer she stopped working and soon produced a beautiful foal Bonnie. Bonnie's full name is 'Boncella' which is Zulu and translates as 'unexpected gift or bonus' which is certainly what Bonnie was. Now 16 years later, when she is not too busy pursuing her favourite hobby of eating, Bonnie works for the company too.

Freddie joined the company in May 2005. He is a young Welsh Cob Cross Shire horse. He has learning the ropes under Hannah & Bonnie’s supervision and is now a fully fledged and valued member of the team (but Hannah is still in charge!)

Hannah is now in her dotage and we have decided to put her into retirement. She may still do the occasional canal boat trip to keep her fit and will remain with Bonnie and Freddie to enjoy a well earned rest.
