How to find us
Newbury is located at the centre of Southern England, a crossroads to the North, South, East and West with very easy access from the motorway - M4 junction 13. A market town, Newbury is rich in history with both its civil war connections and ancient cloth trade. With the Kennet and Avon canal running through the centre, it has much to offer the visitor. The embarkation point for the motor barge Avon is Newbury Wharf.
Kintbury is a picturesque village situated off the A4 between Newbury and Hungerford. The horse drawn barge is based at the edge of the village close to the station. Mentioned in the Doomsday book, Kintbury also has documented links with Jane Austen and her sister Cassandra who were close friends of the sister-in-law to the then Vicar of Kintbury namely the Reverend Fulwar Craven Fowle, around 1800.
