Can the horse swim?
Yes they can swim but it is not part of the boat trip! The horse walks along the tow path.

Is it hard work for the horse?
A boat full of passengers can be pulled by one crew member so a heavy horse bred to work is able to tow the boat with ease. Once the boat has built up momentum it glides through the water with very little friction.

Is there a toilet on board?
Yes, both boats have a toilet on board. There are also toilet facilities near to each boarding point.

Can we take disabled passengers?
We welcome enquiries from the disabled. Unfortunately we are no longer allowed to lift wheelchairs on board the boat due to health and safety reasons. If passengers are able to manage coach steps then they will be able to board our boats. Please contact our office in advance of a trip for further information regarding this issue.

Is there a bar on board?
Yes, both boats have a bar serving tea, coffee, soft and alcoholic drinks. We also sell crisps, biscuits and some confectionary.

Is there a gift shop?
We have a small gift shop on board each boat selling souvenirs and small gifts.

Can we take our dog on board?
Guide dogs are welcome and where possible we allow other well behaved dogs to board space permitting. This is at our discretion and we advise passengers to phone ahead to check if wishing to bring a dog on board. We do need to consider the comfort of all our passengers.

Is there parking nearby?
There is parking at Kintbury next to the canal in the Dundas Arms car park which is free of charge to our customers. At Newbury Wharf there is pay and display car parking and a coach park close to the canal.

Is there a train station nearby?
Newbury train station is 10-15 minutes walk from the Kennet and Avon Canal. Kintbury station is right next to the canal and our mooring.
